| Walters Public Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization established in December 1984. It is governed by an eleven member Board of Directors composed of community members and school advisors. 2005 officers of the board are: Janell Philpott, Chairman; Danny Marlett, Vice-Chairman; Betty Minton, Secretary-Treasurer. Members are Jimmy Wayne Kinder, Mike Flanagan, Jeff Simpson, Jeff Baumann, Tammie McDonald, and Larry Stogner, Superintendent. |
| The purpose of the foundation is to support the school system and enhance the quality of the educational process. Since its inception in 1984 donations have been in excess of $220,000. It now has $111,000. in endowment. It has sponsored numerous projects for the school system, including electronically automating the elementary library, and various innovative teacher initiated programs and out door classroom activities. |
| The foundation has become a main player in the development of technologies within the Walters Public Schools. At the present time they are working side-by-side with the administration and faculty in the formation of a dedicated computer technology system for grades 1-12. |
| The foundation has a program to honor requests for memorials or recognition for individuals by informing the family members a donation has been made. Another function is to act as a depository for the following scholarships: Mershon, Pickett, and Jones. |
