I graduated from SWOSU in Weatherford with a BS in Education. Graduate school at OU and SWOSU was attended and I have received Orff and Kodaly certificates as a result of some of those studies. National Board Certification was achieved in 2004. This is my 34th year to teach and I have taught fourth grade (3 years), music and physical education combo (15 years) and music only (16 years.) I am a third generation teacher at Walters Elementary with my grandmother, Ruth Hoodenpyle and my mother, Carol Hoodenpyle both teaching here many years before me.
I have been a 4-H leader for 15 years and serve on the Fair Board, Education Foundation, Cotton County 4-H Leaders Council and Miss Walters Pageant Board.
Pete and I have been married for 32 years, we have two children, Austin, a Mechanical Engineer working in Greenville, TX, and Caitlin, a 7th grade English & Reading teacher at Walters Middle School. We live on the farm (where we have been working on our house since we got married!) and are involved in beef, wheat and oil production. We are members of First Baptist Church in Walters where Pete is a Youth Sunday School teacher and I serve as the interim worship leader and Adult 3 Sunday School Director.
