WALTERS, Okla. (KSWO) - One of three Oklahoma high school students named as Chancellor Hans Brisch Scholars comes from Walters High School. Each student will receive a $2,000 scholarship award alongside the honor.
Samuel Keaston Gonzalez, from Walters High School, received the honor which is based on outstanding leadership, civic involvement and academic talent.
“We are proud of these talented Oklahoma student leaders who prioritize excellence in service and academic achievement,” Chancellor Allison D. Garrett said. “These exceptional students are committed to making a difference in the lives of others, and we wish them continued success as they pursue college degrees.”
Gonzalez is said to have exhibited a strong commitment to serving his community through his involvement in judging 4-H competitions, packaging meals at regional food banks and volunteering.
