Walters Public Schools will transition to Virtual Education tomorrow, Thursday, January 29, 2026. Students that are enrolled in Red River Career Tech will not attend career tech. JH Basketball has been cancelled.
This decision is due to our bus routes and many city streets still being covered in snow and/or ice. In addition, there are areas on our school campuses that continue to have patches of ice. As always, the safety of our students is our top priority, and we do not feel it is worth the risk to return at this time.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our maintenance department and to John Anderson for working all day to clear the school campus, their hard work and dedication are truly appreciated.
We are hopeful that warmer temperatures tomorrow will help thaw road conditions so that we can safely return to in-person instruction soon.

WHS Basketball - UPDATED Comanche County Tournament Game times: WHS Girls will play at the Coliseum, Saturday, January 31 at 5:00 pm. WHS Boys will play at Chattanooga High School, Wednesday, February 4 at 12:30 pm. The updated bracket will be posted once it is received.
The Empire game that was moved to Saturday, January 31 is being moved to a new date. The new date will be posted once finalized.
Walters Public Schools Closure Notice
Walters Public Schools will be closed again tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, due to hazardous road and sidewalk conditions. Red River Career Tech students will also be out. This will not be a virtual learning day.
Comanche County Tournament games will not be played on Wednesday. New date to be posted.
Our top priority is the safety of our students, staff, and families, and current conditions make travel unsafe.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the City of Walters, Cotton County District 1, the Walters Public Schools Maintenance Department and administration, Jeff Baumann, Johnny Skinner, Mr. Nease and Mr. Meason for their help clearing streets, sidewalks, and parking lots to help us return to school as soon as possible.

Due to hazardous road and sidewalk conditions, Walters Public Schools will transition to Virtual Education on Monday, January 26, 2026. In addition students will not attend Red River Technology Center and JH Basketball games on Monday are cancelled.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Current conditions make travel unsafe, and this decision was made with the well-being of our school community in mind.

Due to the potential for severe weather and hazardous road conditions, Walters Public Schools will utilize Virtual Education tomorrow, Friday, January 23, 2026.
Career Tech students will NOT attend Red River Career Tech in the morning.
In addition, all Comanche County Basketball Tournament games scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed until next Wednesday. An updated schedule will be posted as soon as possible.
Forecasts indicate the storm could arrive in our area as early as 11:00 AM. While we understand that an early release can be a burden for families, we want to avoid that situation if at all possible. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will always err on the side of caution.

Due to the possible impending weather forecasted for the coming weekend, the schedule for the CCT has been adjusted.
**Friday's games have been moved to Thursday, meaning Girls and Boys will both play on Thursday.
**Saturday's games have been moved to Friday. If games are unable to be played on Friday, finals will be moved to Wednesday, January 28.
